We can’t wait to have author Brittany Johnson for an author event in celebration of her book DEADLY EVER AFTER! When two dead princesses get a second chance at life, they are lead on an adventure that could either let them live or bring them to their end for good.
Amala has spent her whole life trying to be the perfect princess: delicate, quiet, obedient. But when she’s murdered on the night of her wedding, her story is cut short before it begins.
Kha’dasia has been told her whole life that she is too rough, too loud, too much. She’s no ordinary princess but a ruthless warrior on a quest to fulfill her late brother’s dying wish. Except she dies before reaching her destination.
When both girls wake up in a cursed forest, the gods offer them a second chance at life—if they can find true love’s kiss. But there’s a catch, the gods warn. While the right kiss will save you, the wrong kiss will kill you.
On their journey, the princesses must overcome challenges that force them to face the truth of their lives…and their deaths. And as Amala and Kha’dasia grow closer, they can’t help but wonder if true love has been standing right in front of them all along.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Originally (and proudly) from Essex County, New Jersey, Brittany has always been enamored with storytelling—especially if the main character wore a tiara and a flowy dress. Her first “book” was written on the walls of her mother’s living room. Proud (with a mess to now clean), her mother let her re-print her work on giant sticky notes so she could proudly show the world her art.
In her early teens, she relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she fell deeper in love with writing through fanfiction, co-writing original stories with friends through text and notebook, and creating original characters.
As an upperclassman, she discovered a passion for film, screenwriting, and photography. She temporarily put the pen down and joyfully picked up a lens. These passions led to a brief stint at the School of Visual Arts in New York, New York, and later on to other professional pursuits. Some of her favorite memories come from helping launch and grow a film production company in St. Petersburg, Florida, and being a featured artist at the MIZE Gallery in St. Pete and the Orlando Museum of Art, in Orlando, Florida. Through it all, she couldn’t ignore the part of her that missed writing, so she found her way back to a notebook and a Word Doc to become an official author.
After a few shelved manuscripts, more rejections than she remembers, and a lot of tears and hard work, she gained representation from Jamie Vankirk at Rainbow Nerds Literary in 2021 with what would become her debut young adult fantasy, Deadly Ever After, set for Fall 2025 publication. She was also chosen to be a contributing author for the award-nominated young adult anthology We Mostly Come Out at Night.
None of the above would have been possible without the immense support of her agent, editors, friends, family, partner, dogs, colleagues, and other creative professionals before her. To each and every single one of them, she is eternally grateful.
